MORNING · DAY FIVE

A small obedience

A short morning devotional for the household. King James Bible.

“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much:” Luke 16:10 (KJV)

Reflection

The Lord entrusts us in the morning with a small handful of small things. A bed to make, a meal to prepare, a message to answer, a conversation to have gently. It is tempting to believe that our real Christian life begins later, in some bigger moment when the stakes are higher and the choice is more dramatic. But Christ says the opposite. He says the small morning obedience is where the whole life is decided. If we cannot be trusted with the coffee, we cannot be trusted with anything larger. If we can be trusted with the coffee, He may trust us with a kingdom. Nothing in this morning is beneath His attention. Therefore nothing in this morning is beneath ours.

Prayer line

Lord, let me be faithful in the small things of this morning, for love of you. Amen.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
