REFLECTION · PATIENCE

A slow obedience in the same direction

A short reflection from the CrossAIHub household. King James Bible.

“But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:4 (KJV)

Christian growth is almost never a dramatic thing. It is a household getting up the next morning after failing the previous evening, and choosing — again — to walk in the same direction the Lord has been pointing.

James does not say that patience gets us to the answer. He says patience does its perfect work in us. That is the whole point. The Lord is not, in this season, primarily changing the outcome. He is changing the disciple. And He is doing it slowly, on purpose, so that the change is real, and durable, and gently His.

Whatever season the household is in tonight — one more small obedience, in the same direction. That is the whole of the Christian life.
