“It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22–23 (KJV)
Reflection
Jeremiah wrote these words after a city fell. He wrote them looking at rubble. He wrote them under a sky that had, from his human view, gone silent. And yet — new every morning. There is a mercy waiting for each of us this morning that did not exist yesterday. Yesterday's mercy was for yesterday. It got us to the pillow. It kept us until sleep came. But today's mercy is a fresh one. It is walking into the kitchen with us. It will be in the cup we drink, in the voice of the person we love, in the phone call we would have avoided, in the moment we manage to say sorry before we say anything else. Great is His faithfulness — this morning, and every morning.
Prayer line
Lord, thank you for a new mercy this morning. Let me not miss it. Amen.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
