EVENING · DAY TWO

Count the mercies

A short evening devotional for the household. King James Bible.

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” Psalm 103:2 (KJV)

Reflection

There is a small evening practice the household should not lose: naming the mercies of the day, one by one, aloud if you are alone, in your heart if you are not. The meal that was warm. The message from a brother that arrived at the exact hour you needed it. The moment the child laughed. The moment the traffic parted, or the meeting was cancelled, or the pain lifted a little. These are not small — they are His benefits. And to forget them is to walk out of the day poorer than we should. Bless the Lord, O my soul, tonight. Bless Him by naming what He did, and by refusing to forget it before you sleep.

Prayer line

Lord, thank you for the mercies of this day. I name them before you now — and I forget none of them. Amen.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
