“For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:” 1 Samuel 1:27 (KJV)
Hannah's line is a household line. It is not spoken only over Samuels. It is spoken over every child God has entrusted to a table, whether the child came easily or after years of waiting, whether the child sleeps through the night or does not, whether the child at fifteen is close or far.
The household writes over its children, not the outcome it wishes for them, but Hannah's confession: for this child I prayed. That is enough. The Lord knows the rest of the sentence better than we do. He is the one who will finish it — in five years, in fifteen, in fifty. Our job is to keep praying, and to trust the Author.
