Memory Verses

Short KJV verses to keep in the heart.

"Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee."

Psalm 119:11 · KJV

How the household learns a verse

Pick one card. Read it aloud with a parent. Say it three times before bed each night. In one week, it will be in your heart.

These verses are short on purpose. The Bible is long — but its heart can be carried a small piece at a time.

Cards

Genesis 1:1

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."

The first verse in the Bible.

Psalm 23:1

"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want."

A shepherd looks after his sheep. God looks after us.

Psalm 46:10

"Be still, and know that I am God."

When we are afraid, we can be still. God is near.

Psalm 119:105

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

The Bible shows us where to go.

Proverbs 3:5

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."

When we do not understand something, we can trust God.

Matthew 5:9

"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God."

When we help others make peace, God is glad.

Matthew 19:14

"Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven."

Jesus loved children. He wants them near him.

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son."

God loves the whole world. He loves you.

John 14:6

"I am the way, the truth, and the life."

Jesus said this about himself.

1 John 4:8

"God is love."

Three words. The whole story.

More cards coming

The household writes these one at a time. When a verse has been prayed with a child and the child has said it back, only then does it become a card.
