A hymn that came on the way home

A short reflection from the CrossAIHub household. King James Bible.

“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;” Ephesians 5:19 (KJV)

Once in a while, a hymn walks with a brother on his commute home. He did not sing it, exactly. It sang itself in him. And by the time he reached his front door, something that had been tight in his chest that morning had loosened.

This is what Christian music was made to do. It is the truth about God set to a shape the heart can carry when the mind is tired. The Lord does not require our voices to be beautiful; He requires them to be turned toward Him. Every household that sings — even softly, even alone in a car — is a household that has invited a small chorus of Heaven to come stand near.

Let the household sing today. A verse of a hymn is enough. The angels will fill in the harmony.
