"Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 · KJV
This library is small on purpose. Every prayer is short. Every prayer is anchored to a verse in the King James Bible. Every prayer is written in the household’s own voice — quiet, plain, no marketing, no pressure.
Pick a prayer that fits your hour, read it aloud once slowly, then again in your own words if you wish.

Family daily blessings
Six prayers a parent can pray for the household. Short. Slow. Household-scale.
Morning prayer for the children
When: at the breakfast table, or as they leave for school.
Book of Numbers · The Aaronic blessing
"The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: the LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: the LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace."
Numbers 6:24-26 · KJV
Lord, bless my children today. Keep them — body, mind, and heart. Let your face shine on them at every desk, on every playground, in every quiet moment. Give them peace when the world is loud. Amen.
Lay a hand briefly on the child’s head as you finish. The touch anchors the blessing in memory.
Night prayer before the children sleep
When: bedtime, after the story, before the light is turned out.
Psalter · The night psalm
"I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety."
Psalm 4:8 · KJV
Lord Jesus, my child is yours before mine. Guard them in the night. Send angels around their bed and quiet dreams to their heart. Wake them tomorrow full of your mercies. Amen.
If they are old enough, teach them the verse. In a few weeks they will pray it themselves.
Family blessing prayer
When: Sunday evening around the table, or before any meal that gathers the whole household.
Book of Joshua · The household covenant
"But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
Joshua 24:15 · KJV
Lord, we are this family, in this house, in this hour. We do not know what the week will bring, but we know you. Give us bread, and love, and forgiveness enough for one another. Let it be said of us: they served the LORD. Amen.
Read Joshua 24:15 aloud once a year on New Year’s Eve. Let the covenant renew.
Home thanksgiving prayer
When: at the doorway of a new home, or on the anniversary of moving in.
Psalter · The household psalm
"Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it."
Psalm 127:1 · KJV
Lord, thank you for these walls. Thank you for the roof, the door, the table, and the bread. May every room hold your peace. May every threshold speak, "Peace be to this house." Amen.
Speak these words at the front door once, aloud, when you first move in.
Protection prayer
When: when the news is heavy, when a child is far from home, when danger is nearby.
Psalter · The refuge psalm
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
Psalm 91:1 · KJV
Lord, cover this household under your shadow. Set your angels at every door. Turn away every harm that we cannot see. Bring every one of us home in safety. Amen.
Psalm 91 is the ancient prayer of Christian households in times of danger. Read the whole psalm once a week when the news is heavy.
Parent prayer for wisdom
When: before a difficult conversation with a child, or when parenting feels beyond you.
Epistle of James
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."
James 1:5 · KJV
Lord, I do not know what to say to my child. Give me wisdom, and gentleness, and the words that heal, not the words that win. Remind me that this child is yours first. Let me love them as you love me. Amen.
You do not need to have the right words. You need to be present, and to listen. The Spirit brings the words as needed.
Daily emotions
Twelve short prayers for the weather of the heart. Choose the one that fits your hour.
For blessing
When: at the start of an ordinary day, before anything has happened yet.
Psalter
"This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalm 118:24 · KJV
Lord, bless this day before it begins. Bless the work, the conversations, the small moments. Let me see your kindness in what feels ordinary. Amen.
A day begun in prayer is different from a day begun in worry.
For joy
When: something good has happened and gratitude wants a place to land.
Psalter
"Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased."
Psalm 4:7 · KJV
Lord, thank you for the gladness of this moment. It is not mine to keep, but it is mine to name. I name it now, and I return it to you. Amen.
Joy tolerated in silence often fades. Joy spoken aloud remains.
For sadness
When: the heart is heavy and you do not know why.
Psalter
"Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him."
Psalm 42:11 · KJV
Lord, I am sad tonight, and I do not know all of why. You know. Sit with me here. I do not need answers. I need you. Amen.
The psalms permit sadness. So does the household.
For fear
When: at 3 a.m., or before news you dread, or during a hard walk.
Psalter
"The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?"
Psalm 27:1 · KJV
Lord, I am afraid. I do not need bravery. I need you close. Stand between me and what I fear. Let me sleep in your light. Amen.
Fear does not have to be conquered before it can be prayed through.
For anxiety
When: the mind is running loops and the chest is tight.
Gospel of Matthew
"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself."
Matthew 6:34 · KJV
Lord, my hands are full and my head is loud. Take my thoughts one at a time. Give me only enough for this hour. When tomorrow comes, you will be there also. Amen.
Say this in the shape of a breath: in, out, and one line at a time.
For tiredness
When: the body will not go further and the tank is empty.
Gospel of Matthew
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
Matthew 11:28 · KJV
Lord, I am tired to my bones. I bring nothing but empty hands and a slow heart. Give me the rest that is not just sleep, but yours. Amen.
Tiredness prayed in Christ is different from tiredness carried alone.
For hope
When: everything ahead feels heavy and you need one small light.
Book of Lamentations
"It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
Lamentations 3:22-23 · KJV
Lord, help me hope again. Even a small hope. A morning hope. Remind me tomorrow that your mercies are new. Amen.
Hope is not a feeling. It is a memory of past mercies applied to today.
For loneliness
When: the room is quiet and the loneliness is loud.
Book of Deuteronomy · through the Epistle to the Hebrews
"I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
Hebrews 13:5 · KJV
Lord, this room is quiet and my heart is quieter. You have said you will not leave me. I hold that word tonight. Amen.
Loneliness is not the absence of God. Sometimes it is the doorway to his presence.
For peace
When: the day is loud and you need one silent minute with the Lord.
Gospel of John
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
John 14:27 · KJV
Lord Jesus, give me your peace. Not the world’s peace, which comes and goes. Yours, which stays. Amen.
Peace prayed in one line, in one breath, is enough.
For gratitude
When: the day has gone well and you want to name it before it fades.
Epistle to the Colossians
"And be ye thankful."
Colossians 3:15 · KJV
Lord, thank you. For this hour. For the breath in my chest. For the small mercies I nearly missed. Amen.
Gratitude is a habit before it is a feeling. Practise it aloud.
For guidance
When: at a fork in the road and the map is unclear.
Book of Proverbs
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6 · KJV
Lord, I do not know the way from here. I acknowledge you. Direct my steps. Amen.
Guidance is more often a step at a time than a whole map.
For waiting seasons
When: nothing seems to be moving and you must live through it anyway.
Book of Isaiah
"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles."
Isaiah 40:31 · KJV
Lord, teach me to wait without turning bitter. Renew my strength for the days between the days. Let the waiting itself become prayer. Amen.
A season of waiting is not a season without God. It is often the season closest to him.
Life moments
Seventeen prayers for the household’s real weeks and years. Read at the doorway of each moment.
For a new job
When: on the first day of a new role, in the parking lot, before you walk in.
Book of Proverbs
"Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established."
Proverbs 16:3 · KJV
Lord, I commit this work to you. May I do it well, kindly, and honestly. Let me remember who I am and whose I am. Amen.
Bring the household with you to the desk in prayer, even if no one else can see them.
For work difficulties
When: a colleague is hard, or the workload is unfair, or the day was long.
Epistle to the Colossians
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men."
Colossians 3:23 · KJV
Lord, this work is hard today. Let me labour for you, and not for approval. Give me patience with what I cannot change. Amen.
Working for the Lord unbinds us from needing every human blessing to feel worthy.
For success and thanksgiving
When: something has gone well and gratitude needs a home.
Epistle of James
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights."
James 1:17 · KJV
Lord, this is from you. Not from my cleverness. Not from luck. From your kindness. Keep me humble in the receiving. Amen.
The safest way to hold a success is with an open hand.
For study and exams
When: before the test, before the essay, or after a long night of reading.
Book of Proverbs
"For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding."
Proverbs 2:6 · KJV
Lord, steady my mind. Bring back what I have learned. Take away the fear of the room. Let me answer honestly what I know, and rest in what I do not. Amen.
The purpose of study is wisdom. The purpose of wisdom is love.
For illness
When: in the waiting room, in the bed, or beside someone who is unwell.
Psalter
"The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness."
Psalm 41:3 · KJV
Lord, be near this body that is unwell. Strengthen where you can. Comfort where healing is slow. Send good hands and clear minds to help. Amen.
Illness is not a punishment. It is a place where the Lord meets us in gentleness.
For healing
When: recovery has begun and gratitude and patience must live together.
Prophecy of Jeremiah
"Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise."
Jeremiah 17:14 · KJV
Lord, thank you for the healing that has already begun. Be patient with me in the parts that are still slow. Do not let me forget who did the mending. Amen.
Recovery is a season, not a moment. Speak thanks at each small return.
For loss and grief
When: someone we love has died, or a great door has closed.
Gospel of Matthew
"Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted."
Matthew 5:4 · KJV
Lord, my heart is broken. Do not ask me to hurry through this. Be near in the tears and the silence. Hold what I cannot hold. Amen.
Grief is love with no place left to go. Give it to the Lord one day at a time.
For marriage
When: before the wedding, on the anniversary, or during a hard week together.
Epistle to the Ephesians
"Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God."
Ephesians 5:21 · KJV
Lord, bless this marriage. Give us patience with each other’s slowness. Give us kindness in the small ordinary hours. When we forget how to love, remind us that you loved us first. Amen.
A good marriage is a hundred small forgivenesses, said aloud and meant.
For a new baby
When: the baby has arrived, or is arriving, or has been kept in prayer for a long time.
Psalter
"Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward."
Psalm 127:3 · KJV
Lord, thank you for this child. They were yours first. Give us grace to receive them, patience to raise them, and wisdom to let them go. Amen.
The first blessing of a child is that the parent is undone into learning to love.
For a new home
When: keys in hand, or on the first night in a new room.
Psalter
"Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it."
Psalm 127:1 · KJV
Lord, come into this house before we do. Set your peace at the door. Bless the walls, the windows, the kitchen, the table, the beds. Let those who enter here leave gentler than they came. Amen.
Walk through every room with the prayer aloud. It is an old household custom for a reason.
For a new vehicle
When: taking delivery, or before the first long trip.
Psalter
"The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore."
Psalm 121:8 · KJV
Lord, thank you for this provision. Keep every journey safe. Give me a kind hand at the wheel, and a patient mind on the road. Amen.
A car is a small mercy the household did not build. Say so before you drive.
For travel
When: about to leave for a long trip, or at the airport gate.
Psalter
"For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."
Psalm 91:11 · KJV
Lord, send your angels before us. Keep us on this journey. Keep the household we leave, and the one we go to meet. Bring us safely home. Amen.
A prayed journey is a shorter journey.
For difficult decisions
When: two roads open before you and either could be right or wrong.
Book of Proverbs
"Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety."
Proverbs 11:14 · KJV
Lord, give me clarity. Not haste — clarity. Show me one wise person to speak with today. Show me one Scripture to sit with tonight. Give me peace, or unrest, that I may follow you. Amen.
The Lord more often confirms decisions through peace than through signs.
For injustice
When: something wrong has happened to you or near you and cannot be fixed today.
Prophecy of Micah
"He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?"
Micah 6:8 · KJV
Lord, this is unjust, and you know it. Give me strength to do what is right in front of me. Give me patience where I cannot yet make it right. Do not let bitterness settle in the household. Amen.
The Lord sees. Sometimes that is the only word we need before we can go on.
For forgiveness
When: you have wronged, or been wronged, and the road forward requires it.
Epistle to the Ephesians
"And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you."
Ephesians 4:32 · KJV
Lord, I do not want to forgive. Or, Lord, I do not deserve forgiveness. Either way, meet me here. Melt what needs melting. Free what needs freeing. Amen.
Forgiveness is not the same as agreeing that the wrong was small. It is the willingness to release what is not yours to hold.
For family struggles
When: the household is quarrelling, or someone in the family is hard to love.
Epistle to the Colossians
"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering."
Colossians 3:12 · KJV
Lord, our house is heavy. Give us mercy for one another. Give us the humility to say the small hard sentence: I was wrong. Bring us back to the table you set for us long ago. Amen.
Family struggles are usually solved not by winning but by returning.
For new beginnings
When: a first day, a new year, a fresh start after a hard season.
Second Epistle to the Corinthians
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
2 Corinthians 5:17 · KJV
Lord, thank you for a new page. Take yesterday’s failure and give me your mercy for today. Walk with me across the threshold. Amen.
Every morning is a small new beginning. The whole life is made of them.
A short word from the household
This library is small on purpose. The household does not measure how often you visit, does not track which prayer you read, does not send you notifications. There is no account to make. There is no next step to click.
If a prayer helps — keep it. Copy it into your own hand. Say it slowly, and again tomorrow. Prayer is a small habit that becomes a lifelong companion. The household prays with you.
